Skinner medical emergency

I am at moms house. I have been having weird sympoms for a while now. I get hot and anxious. I also get weird pains all over and tremors. Last night I thought I might be having a heart attack. My arm went numb and there was pressure in my chest and neck. Marci and dad took me to the hospital and they found out my thyroid is low. They gave me some happy medicine. It is good stuff. Now I have to find out why my thyroid is low. It's not my fault I have been getting so fat!!! : )
I have felt weird for a while now and I do not go to the doctor for no reason so I was pretty worried. I was getting ready to write my will. Gatlin can have my Wii if I forget to write my will. One more thing. Marci is very mean. They had those things on my chest to measure my heart. When we where done she laughed and started ripping them off of my hairy chest. If she was not such a good cook I would be consulting an attorney right now. (plus they had me on lorazopam which is great stuff) Brian

Update: The medicine they gave me in my I.V was so good that I told the nurse to put some beer in there next. I had to go to the bathroom and wanted to ask the nurse for a catheter. Marci said no.

pictures to go with blog

Visit by Och

We had lots of visitors last week and we really enjoyed ourselves. First Och came to see us from San Francisco. He is leaving soon to go back to Mongolia and probably won't be back for a long time. We might not ever see him again. We always consider him our Mongolian son. After he left we had a surprise visit from Dave and Elaine. They were on their way to St. George and will be going to Mexico City in less than a week for their mission there which will last two year. Then to make the week even better James dropped in for a couple of days. All in all we had a really nice week.

UVU beat the Utes!

I thought that you might enjoy seeing a few of the photos that I snapped while attending last nights Baseball game between the University of Utah and Utah Valley University. Our good friends the Talbots had tickets to the game so we all dove up to Orem together to attend and ended up thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It has been a good long while since I have attended a Baseball game and I found it just as exhilarating -- with the whizzing of the fast-ball, crack of the bat, and cheers from the crowd -- as I ever I remembered it being. The weather was perfect and our seats behind home-plate couldn't have been better. We were able to see all the action as the pitchers wound up and let fly; the batters aimed for the moon and hoped for the best. UVU crushed the Utes pitching, going through five Ute pitchers, scoring 13 hits and 8 runs (one of which was an amazing two-run home-run in the 8th inning) to beat the Utes 8 to 2.

Gatlin takes the D.A.R.E. and Graduates!

Gatlin has been in the D.A.R.E. program at school and is happy to report that he has now officially graduated the program with honors. No drugs or alcohol for this kid! As a result of his dedication and hard work he received a T-shirt (which he is wearing in the photo) and a fancy diploma! Yeah! Gat-buddy way to go! We love ya man!

Thank's Karissa!

I meant to post this photo a few weeks ago when our St. Patrick's Day package arrived from Faith and crew, but then work got busy and I've been gone a lot (doh! Sorry!). Anyway, thanks Faith for all the goodies, they were Delicious! as always. And the kids loved all the St. Patrick's Day green stuff (i.e. the glo sticks and balloons). Juliette wanted me to say a special "Thank You" to Karissa for the purse she made for Juliette's Baptism! As you can see from the photo she absolutely loved it! It seems we have quite the budding fashion designer in the family. You know Karissa fashion purse designers make some serious cash, maybe you should re-think the whole marine biologist thing... just kidding. But seriously great job on the purse. We love and miss you guys! Hope everyone is O.k. and having fun! Laterz! Uncle AJ

For Todd

For some reason I couldn't post comments on Todd's previous post so here is my comment.

I would say the backer is more at fault. Although one that was hit seems to have been careless too. Why didn't they just honk the horn instead of stopping and trying to put the car in reverse? But when you are backing up you need to watch.

And just so you know I have not been eating hotdogs before giving this advice.

Participation please:)

I'm still unsure which one to post on. But since this isn't political and this site has had the most hits lately this one gets it.

This is the best I could do to find something controversial for Brian. And if everyone gives me the same answer I will have failed at that.

As some may know I've been filling in as Postmaster in Rigby because my boss asked me too. So I have a few more employees than Driggs. Which makes it more interesting.

Today my employees had a motor vehicle accident. So I got to investigate it and hand out appropriate discipline if any.

My clerk who was on lunch got into her truck to leave the parking lot. She got in put her seat belt on did not have the radio or anything on. She looked behind her, didn't see anyone so she proceeded to back up. She has to do a 90degree back up inorder to leave. In the second vehicle my carrier was leaving to deliver her mail for the day. She has to pull through the parking lot to the exit which means she passes right by the parked vehicle. She proceeded to leave and did not see the truck backing up until it was to late to warn the truck or get out of the way. She was completely stopped when hit and was attempting to put it into reverse to get out of the way. She had also mentioned that she had just had her wipers on to clean her windows. Which may have contributed to her not seeing the backing vehicle in time. The backing vehicle had backed up completely and was just about to go forward when she hit the car. The post office has zero forgiveness for safety accidents. They believe all accidents can be avoided even if that means staying home for the day.

Your job is to assign responsibility and what level of corrective action you would take: none, official discussion, letter of warning, 7 day suspension, 14 day suspension, or removal.

I expect input from everyone including Steve, since I know you read this site and Brian because you drive for a living.
If you need more info to make your decision let me know.

Sorry I can't post pictures. But the Chevy Avalanche that backed onto the hood of an old cavelier was unhurt where the hood of the car was smashed.

thanks for reading todd

Elder Anderson 6 months ago

This is Elder Anderson in the October conference. If you haven't watched the press conference they held when he was called watch it. This is what he said when they asked him about being prophet seer and revelator.

"First of all, it means that I know that Jesus is the Christ, with a sure and certain witness — and this I do," he said. "I have that solace that perhaps in that one category that must be fulfilled, I can say I fulfill that part. I know that he lives. I know that he's resurrected. … Of course, I'm hopeful that by way of ordination, certain gifts come to me that I anxiously await."

2012?

This might be violating the rules of Skinnertopia but I just thought I would post this picture.
Just think how different it would be if we had these two men in charge.

Spring Conference 2009

Spring Conference 2009 was indeed awesome! I was spiritually fed like never before from the words of our beloved leaders. I agree with Brian, "Elder Uchtdorf" is the MAN! His talk in the priesthood session once again deeply inspired me much like the talk he gave last priesthood session about "lifting where you stand". And I am not ashamed to admit that Elder Eyrings talk had me in tears as he retold the story of the two Rangers who gave their lives for fellow comrades in Somalia. I can not wait to get the Conference issue of the Ensign, it is going to be a great read. And like Brian has already pointed out by posting a few quotes this conference was full of amazing quotes that I at least will be using and referring to for years to come. I hope you all were as equally fed this conference a I was. We love and miss you all! Love AJ, Julie and the clan!

Surveying in Nevada with Julie

Hello everyone (whomever that may be) tuning into the newest Skinner blog. I figured I'd post a few photos taken last week of me and Julie in Nevada. Believe it or not I talked Julie into going with me to work for a few days and she even helped me survey. She did great! (even though the project area was way up a mountain on a slight slope). Sorry to say we did not find anything archaeological but it was sill fun none-the-less and Julie got a good work out for her"Budge the Pudge" blog. The first photo is of the two of us in the project area after we had just ridden a ATV up the mountain-side. The second was taken by my client of me and Julie heading back down the mountain. The picture doesn't really show it but we are riding our ATV down a pretty steep finger at the base of the mountain.

As soon as I saw this picture of the Swans I knew it was worthy of a post on Brian's blog. Sorry to post after the conference comments. If it counts this picture was taken during conference:)
Mare wants me to add that we were listening to conference.
Why do we have 2 blogs again?

Uchtdorf is the man

Elder Uchtdorf knocked it out of the park today in General conference. Since this is a Skinner news site it is revelent because his talk had a powerful effect on me. I was very impressed with the new Apostle Elder Anderson. His talk this morning was a wing dinger too. Maybe it was the new blood pressure medicine I am taking but it was good. It seems like all of them were fired up this morning. I haven't watched all of afternoons yet. Elder Oaks was pretty good he really laid it on the line but then Elder Bednar kind of put me to sleep. I will go take the tivo off of pause and watch the rest.

From last night preisthood session.

"I wonder what could be accomplished if we 'put away childish things' and
gave ourselves, heart and soul, to becoming worthy priesthood bearers and
true
representatives of the Lord Jesus Christ." Elder Uchtdorf
Apostle of the lord.

Another great quote:

The gospel is the way of discipleship. As we walk in that way, we can experience confidence and joy, even during times of peril, sorrow and uncertainty." The world offers many, ever-changing solutions to all problems, but the gospel "has the answers to our problems. It is not a secret. It is not complicated or hidden. It can unlock the door to true happiness. It is not someone's theory or proposition. It does not come from man at all."

Bowser peed on my chest

The first news item of Skinnertopia is Bowser our last puppy peed on my chest today. We have sold 3 of the other dogs for $500 a piece. I kind of want to keep bowser even though he is rude. He likes to bite my ears just like Pugly did.
