Thoughts on the Provo and Ogden Temples

The Provo temple dedicated in 1972 has got to be one of the more questionable decisions the leader of the church ever made. Now I am not privy to the background story of all of this but I am mainly talking about the design of the temple. I would not necesarily classify them as ugly but as far as temples of the church go these two temples are about as close to ugly as you can get. How can you feel the spirit of the lord in a building that has escalators? Actually the escalators where removed and I can see why. The church was low on money at this point in history because the temple was announced in 1967 and not dedicated until 1972. According to wikipedia. Emil B. Fetzer, the architect for the Ogden and Provo temples, was asked to create a functional design with efficiency, convenience, and reasonable cost as key factors. Now I am not one to say that these temples shouldn't have been built but they are kind of tacky. I am sure I mentioned this to David O McKay in the spirit world since he died six days before I was born. Maybe the lord is trying to teach me not to be so worried about the architecture of the temple because the Provo temple is where I recieved my endowments. It was also where I was sealed to Faithann. (I won't comment one way or another here due to legal requirements) I am glad we have not built any more temples that are quite as tacky but the tonga one comes close. I also think that even Maralee and Todd would have to agree that the Denver temple is not one of the better looking ones either.

Episode 04: Interview with Paul Smith, chief researcher of Emma Hale Smith. Emma Hale Smith, wife of the Prophet Joseph Smith, was born July 10, 1804, in Harmony Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. At the inception of the female Relief Society of Nauvoo in 1842, Emma was appointed its founding president. As a devoted wife, mother, and friend, Emma stood as a respected leader and was acknowledged by the Lord as “an elect lady.” Speaking of Emma (her daughter-in-law), Lucy Mack Smith said, "I have never seen a woman in my life who would endure every species of fatigue and hardship from month to month and from year to year with that unflinching courage, zeal, and patience which she ever has done." Joining us today is Paul Smith, longtime researcher and writer of many subjects, chief among those being Emma Hale Smith. He shares great insight into the life of Emma, a woman we should love and respect.

pugly did it!!!

Well pugly had 6 puppies this morning. 5 black ones and 1 like leroy. 3 boys and 3 girls. I am proud of her. Unlike last time we will be able to keep one. I think we are leaning toward keeping leroy the 2nd. The puppies names are Spike, Angel, Buffy, leroy Jr,Cordelia, and Fred (Winifred)

Update: Another one just came out. He died. He was a black one too. Pugly had four boys and three girls. We will name the one that died Doyle in honor of a courageous half Demon on the Angel television show. Marci even gave him mouth to mouth rescucitaion but I think he was already dead.

Way to ruin a great song. The catholic sounding version is crummy. Below is how the song should be sung. It is the greatest Hymn ever.
