I was cleaning it right after and a small yellow ball of fat came out. Luke was ok right after but a few minutes later he said " I feel sick I need to sit down". He was ok. We did take him to the emergency room and they cleaned it and gave him some antibiotics etc. The doctor said dog bite often swell up but he was ok. And just to add some politics, the bill was $8.50. She ended up getting her ankle kicked and today when the Dr. xrayed it he said that it was broken. She if going to see a specialist up north soon. Until then she has to wear a boot and crutches. Too bad for her last year she played soccer when she was sick this year she hurt her foot. Weather here is a little crazy in Beijing, one day rain in the morning and sunny in the afternoon and rain again in evening. I really don't like it. ^^ I missed the california weather.<br />I been thinking about you guys and I want to write you email. <br /> <br />It's been little crazy month because I hurt my girlfriend almost died. <br />One evening after dinner on my way home driving my e-bike with her and she was seating back seat.<br />She told me to slow down and don't bounced the bike up and down but I didn't listen to her and I keep doing it because don't like the noise from e-bike.<br />I wasn't driving very fast. I was going only about 30km(fast)? and my e-bike was making so much noise and bouncing up and down like riding a horse trying to stop the noise. She fall of the bike and hit her head on the ground can't move or talk or feel anything. for awhile I thought she die.<br />So stupid of me I should listen to her. <br />She was conscious for 5-10 minutes and I was holding her and cried and pray for her life.<br />I was so scare keep holding her I don't know what to do. I asked GOD for forgiveness and take my life for her.<br />I took her to the hospital have CT scan and X-ray thank goodness she's okay and I promise I will never do that again. Now she's almost 100% heal better then before.<br /> <br />I want to tell you this story because no matter where you at in this world GOD is watching over you. I know I don't go to church every sunday and read the book mormon. Deep in my heart I know church is true and the book of mormon is word of god. My girlfriend really like the church but she can't go (chinese law). I did took her few times anyways^^<br /> <br />Mom & Dad I'm really glad that I'm part of your life even I'm far from you half around the world and when I was living california you should visited me ^^<br />I just want to tell you. It is really nice it is at Scofield Resevior. There will be lots of fun things to do. They have a very nice house, games, great accommodations and even four wheelers for us to use. There are lots of fun activities, they have bicycles, there are tennis courts, basketball courts, fishing, climbing etc. Here are the basic directions to get there but it isn't real easy to find. <br /><br />Go up Spanish Fork Canyon continue going until you come to Hwy 96 South Scofield. Turn right at State Park Gate. Tell them you are going to the cabins. Go past Boat Launch and Aquatic Camp and Aspen Cove. Go through the gate by pushing the code the keypad. If you are going call me and I will tell you the gate code. That will lift the gate up. Go up the hill and turn on Mt Ridge Circle. The Cabin is on Mountain Lane Drive Lot # 79. It is two stories with Green roof and has silver container holding Snow Mobiles next to house. When we measured it we had about 7 ". I guess there are two good things about it, 1. it will water the lawn. 2. It won't last long. Dad and I have been busy walking and picking up cans. We made it all way to Wales this week, by doing a little each day. We collected about 15 grocery bags of cans. We take them to our friend and she recycles them. I thought that you might be interested in the recipes. One thing that I thought about was that it would be much easier to store the ingredients and make soap in case of an emergency because it would take up much more room to store the already made detergents. I made up the liquid laundry soap and it seem to work pretty good. Bradshaw<br />We read in Moses 4:13 that after Adam and Eve had eaten of the forbidden fruit, “the eyes of them both were opened.”In other Old Testament instances, this phrase connotes a sudden vision of hidden things.1 By this change they realize that they “had been naked.”2 The Book of Mormon prophet Jacob equates a “perfect knowledge” of “nakedness” with “guilt” and “uncleanness” while associating the perfect knowledge of the “righteous” with “enjoyment” and “being clothed with purity, yea, even with the robe of righteousness.”3 <br />Partaking of the fruit of the tree allowed Adam and Eve to begin to experience and distinguish good from evil—the “opposition in all things” described in 2 Nephi 2:11. In demonstration of her new capacity for discernment, Eve immediately “sees through Satan’s disguise of clever hypocrisy, identifies him, and exposes him for what he is.”4<br />Unlike the richly-described, finely-nuanced account of the temptation dialogue, the tightly-coupled chain of verbs that follow it (“took,” “eat,” “gave,” “eat”) “indicate rapid, single-minded action”—nothing more is said, seen, or felt until the moment we are told that the eyes of Adam and Eve are opened.5 Then, at once, the hurried action restarts (“sewed,” “made”)—all the frantic movements proclaiming loudly, by their silent execution, the anguished undertone of shame and fear—“the physical act… as an expression of an inner state of an alarm.”6 The desired effect of this economical yet artful mode of narrative construction is to help the perceptive reader understand that the Lord God, Adam and Eve’s benevolent provider, who has been absent from their minds throughout the previous episode, has now reentered their thoughts with painful effect.<br />The False Apron<br />The derivation of the Hebrew term for apron (˙agorah), sometimes translated as “girdle,” confirms that this was an article of clothing intended to “enclose and cover the area of [the] lap or loins.”7 The fig tree has unusually large and strong leaves and its fruit is known for its abundance of seeds. Thus an apron of green fig leaves is an appropriate symbol for Adam and Eve’s ability to procreate, to “be fruitful and multiply”8 after the Fall.<br /> <br />Ostensibly, the aprons functioned to hide Adam and Eve’s nakedness—but is there more to the story than this? Ancient readers would have recognized the function of aprons in ritual context as a sign of power and authority. For example, a sacred tree was symbolically represented on an apron worn by the eighth-century Christian king Charlemagne, as in the figure above.9 Kings in the Middle East were often described as various sorts of trees.10 In both Egypt and Mesoamerica,11 foliated aprons were also used as a sign of authority.<br />In Moses 4:27, God Himself will be the one to clothe Adam and Eve, whereas in Moses 4:13 we were told that Adam and Eve “made themselves aprons.” Like their tasting of the forbidden fruit,12 the endeavor of Nimrod to build a tower to “reach unto heaven,”13 Sarah’s essay to realize the blessing of posterity through her handmaiden Hagar,14 and Rebekah’s disguising of Jacob to assure that he would receive the birthright blessing,15 this action exemplifies the “recurring theme… of the attempt and failure of human effort in obtaining a blessing that only God can give.”16 <br />It is perfectly in character for Satan to have planted the suggestion of making their own aprons in the mind of Adam and Eve, since he often appropriates false signs of power and priesthoods for himself in order to deceive.17 Thus, we are not surprised to find the Zohar associating Adam and Eve’s fig leaves with a knowledge of “sorcery and magic,” false forms of “protection” and counterfeits of the true priesthood.18 Moreover, it is consistent with the plan of the Adversary to encourage sinners to flee from the presence of God rather than to reconcile and return to Him.19 <br />In this instance, the contrast between the false clothing made from leaves and the true clothing made from the skins of animals seems paralleled in the story of Cain and Abel, where the former makes an unacceptable offering from the fruits of the ground while the latter follows the God-given pattern of animal sacrifice.20 Citing another scriptural passage, Brown discusses the lambskin aprons of the warring Lamanites in the Book of Mormon, bringing to mind the Lord’s warning about “false prophets which come to you in sheep’s clothing.”21 <br />Note that Satan made three attempts to mislead Adam and Eve by false appearances. First, he made claims that confused the identities of Tree of Knowledge and the Tree of Life. Second, he appeared as a serpent, deceptively employing a symbol of Christ. Finally, in the episode of the fig-leaf aprons, he suggested a course of action to Adam and Eve that substituted a self-made emblem of power and priesthood for the true article obtainable only when authorized by God.<br />The Tree of Death and Rebirth<br />When Adam and Eve heard the voice of the Lord, the English text says that they “went to hide themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.”22 However the Hebrew for “tree,” etz, can be read as singular or plural in this verse—an important subtlety glossed over in nearly every Bible translation. As a rare exception, André Chouraqui’s French edition holds to a careful rendering of the key phrase describing Adam and Eve’s place of concealment: “in the center of [i.e., within] the tree of the garden.”23 As Kastler observes, “they are not merely touching the [Tree of Knowledge] but they have for all intents and purposes merged with it… The tree has become their refuge—or perhaps their prison.”24 They have experienced a kind of death.25<br /> <br />The image of the guilty parties, Adam and Eve, figuratively being shut up in a tree can be best understood when compared with Egyptian motifs, such as the one evoked by the figure of Ramesses II acting in the role of Osiris, as shown above.26 Nibley also mentions “Book of the Dead vignettes showing the Lady incorporated—all but her upper part, and in many cases all but her arms only—in the fruit-bearing tree [suggesting] that the woman in the tree must actually have been eaten by it; she is the first victim, so to speak, and now invites her male companion to share her condition.”27<br />Happily, the condition of “death” suggested by the symbolism of captivity in the tree is only temporary. In ancient year-rites in Egypt, the eventual splitting of the tree “both terminates life and liberates it,” allowing the captive initiate to be reborn.28 The splitting of the tree also is also said by Hugh Nibley to represent, “among other things, the ‘splitting of ‘good’ and ‘evil,’” or the law of opposites.”29<br /> <br />Such images of death and resurrection recall al-Tha’labi’s version of the story of the martyrdom of Isaiah: “When their prophet Isaiah finished his speech, they came after him to kill him and he fled from them. A tree met him and split itself open for him and he entered it. The Devil came upon him and seized a fringe of his garment and showed it to them, so they took saws in its middle and sawed it until they cut it and cut him while he was in the midst.”30 Isaiah’s death in the split tree was immediately followed by his rebirth and ascension to heaven.31 Similar stories about Isaiah are found in Christian sources. See, for example, the illustrations from the Roda Bible shown above.<br /> <br />Intriguingly, this same motif appears in the New World. For instance, Garth Norman notes that the “‘broken tree trunk’ symbol” is connected with the explanation of the origin of some tribes, including the Mixtecas.32 This idea can be seen in a “Tamoanchan pictograph or hieroglyph depicting a man emerging from a split tree trunk in symbolic birth.” The “tree of the Mixtec codices is a Tree of Life or World Tree extending above and below this earth, but principally a ‘tree of the heavens’ in Omeyocan guarded by the creator couple where it gives birth to humanity. It can be stated simply that in ancient Mexico the broken tree represents a birth, death, or migratory transition for man.”33<br /> <br />All these stories might be taken as suggesting that Adam and Eve’s passage through mortal life provided an opportunity for eventual rebirth and return to God’s presence by means of the same tree that originally brought them death. In a speculative mood, we might see such a theme as being represented in the portion of the funerary papyrus of Nakht shown in above,34 where the guide Anubis, the “guardian of the gateway,”35 is shown “leading the deceased into the presence of Osiris where he will assist in the ceremony of the weighing of the heart”36 in afterlife judgment. It is a good letter gives you some food for thought. <br /><br />February 7, 2010 <br /> <br />Dear Ones,<br /><br /> Another week - another letter…Are you ready? <br /><br />We had a nice visit from a Japanese delegation representing AAR - Association for Aid and Relief. We partner with them through the National Rehabilitation Center; AAR builds the wheelchairs. Very pleasant visit; very Japanese people. Another Japanese association this week: We attended a band concert at the Vientiane International School. Brother Koichi Takei and his son Ken are members of our branch, and Ken plays the oboe in the school’s advanced beginner’s band. We loved the concert - Christmas music because the band teacher had an accident just before the concert was scheduled in December, so it was postponed until this week. School bands always are amazing because you see raw talent - potential waiting to happen - and the kids are so excited and into it, if only for the concert. The Takei family returns to Tokyo on February 24, and we’re going to miss them. Brother Takei is one of our heroes - a Saint personified.<br /><br /> Another trip to Thailand for dental work - this has been an unexpected part of our mission, for sure. It’s not entirely awful - since the work needed to be done, it’s nice to get it done here where it’s cheaper at least. Have we mentioned that most of the dentists are women? I would guess 98%. More positives are that we usually stop in Nongkhai for supplies for the Branch that are shipped from Bangkok, we get to see the young elders, and we make a Tesco run and usually get a KFC ice cream cone or sundae! Sanity and soul food!<br /><br /> The rest of the week can be capsulized in one word: HANDOVERS. We had 6 well and toilet handovers…and that’s a lot of sticky rice! These wells and toilets have been done for a long time - most since September 2009 - but for one reason or another, the handovers haven’t been done. We did 2 a day for 3 days. It’s always overwhelming to see the schools, see the villages, and interact with the students and teachers. Our blessings, folks, cannot be numbered. I quote a sentence received this week from a letter from dear MTC friends who served in India: “I don't think I will ever understand in this life how I was given the blessing of being born in America.” That’s how we feel daily, but especially when we are with the people of this developing country and see first hand how they live, what the schools are like (even at best), and eat what they eat (and we recognize they feed us the good stuff). We’ve been here 20 months. This week we saw the first little girl with a doll in a village. We drove by and, regretfully, I didn’t get a picture (President Khamphee drives with focus, and anyway, if we had stopped she likely would have run away), but the image will be forever etched in my mind. Our hope is that we can communicate how blessed we all have been and are still - even in the tough times - and what a debt and obligation we have to share what we have with Heavenly Father’s children everywhere…wherever we are. We went to two wedding parties!<br /><br />2. We gave our final test to our English students this session. Testing has been a joke here - so with his teacher’s mentality, Elder Riser came up with an improved way to foil the “cheating.” We’ve decided it is cheating, but it’s also a cultural-political acceptance of the all for one and one for all mentality. It’s unacceptable to let anyone fail, so in their minds, they’re not really “cheating,” they’re “helping” everyone pass. Elder Riser created three tests - variations of the same test as far as material covered, but in different order and different questions. The tests were given to students so that those sitting close to one another had different tests. It didn’t solve the problem completely, but it definitely was a frustrating turn of events to many of them. We felt we had taught the material well, reviewed and motivated…and still, the results were astoundingly bad. The important thing is we made a lot of friends who enjoyed coming to class and who know some something about the Church now…even if they think it’s the Church of the DIC. <br /><br />Here’s my observation and analogy of a final exam in Lao (WARNING ! Parallel-itis!): It seems we’re all on earth to learn lessons. In the process of life we all want to help and serve one another…we want every person to “pass” or succeed. BUT…in the end there will be a final examination (or judgment). It will be individual. Some of our students came to be tested without attending too many classes. They expected to cheat their way through. Others came with huge bravado - they are charismatic and expected to bluff their way through. Others came with the kind of quiet confidence obtained only through attending classes regularly and consistently mastering the material. They are they who passed with A’s. The truth is, according to the system in these particular classes, all students will pass with a C or above, just as we will all be resurrected. Those who were prepared received A’s; those of Heavenly Father’s children who are prepared will be exalted. Their reward will glorious - in fact, it will be all that He has. Of course in the life analogy, we can all be grateful we can factor in repentance and the Atonement so we can get an A after all we can do.<br /><br />3. We went to Thailand to pick up 8,000 plastic bags!! We ordered plastic bags with the DIC logo on them (and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) to put school kits and hygiene kits in - and anything else we think of. We bought materials and put together 50 hygiene kits just to see how the bags worked. Excellent! Now we’ll do a large scale service project with the branch to put together many, many more.<br /><br />4. WE GOT OUR VISAS! On Tuesday, when we went to pick them up (we started the application process at least 6 weeks ago), we were told our paperwork was lost. So we started again, and with the superb efficiency and cooperation of a woman at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ours was COMPLETE on Thursday. Unbelievable! This is the last time you’ll hear the tale of the visas on this mission, unless Elder Riser decides to take up permanent residency. <br /><br />5. Brother Tod Harris, the manager of scripture translation for the Church, arrived on Wednesday to conduct the Final Ecclesiastical Review of the Book of Mormon. He met with the committee on Thursday from 12-4; Friday from 9-4; and Saturday from 9-4. The first session and half of the second was reviewing a list of 48 key scriptures very carefully to insure they were doctrinally correct with all the key elements preserved in the translation. What an great learning experience it was for me personally to study the heart of the Gospel in such detail, listening to the meaning of words explained, applied, and refined - to feel the Spirit witnessing to me of the truthfulness of the doctrine of Christ in the most simple, abbreviated form - to know again of the reality of the Savior and Redeemer through the Book of Mormon. The next part of the review consisted of transferring all the corrections the committee in Lao had made, making sure the terminology was consistent, resolving differences and coming to solutions. Very tedious, but critical. The last part of the review was addressing specific suggestions and concerns raised by the member of the committee in the United States and the member of the translation committee that Brother Harris met with before he came here. It was surprising (but not surprising really when you factor in the nature of the work that was being done) that major concerns were discovered in both locations, half a world away from each other, and that the resolutions, independently arrived at, were the same. It was another testimony to us that this is the Lord’s work, He is involved in it, and He cares about it because He loves all of His children. The Book of Mormon consists of His words and His message. He wants it to be correct. It has been a privilege and a blessing to be involved in this project. <br /><br />Today when Brother Harris bore his testimony during Sacrament Meeting, he referred to Alma 26:31 with tender emotion: “Now my brethren, we see that God is mindful of every people, whatsoever land they may be in; yea, he numbereth his people, and his bowels of mercy are over all the earth. I knew I shouldn't have watched it but there where no other good ones. I sure wasn't going to watch Sherlock Holmes since the trailer kind of ticks me off. I mean if we have to see Sherlock Naked in his bed and that is supposedly one of the parts they think we will like then that is a movie I will pass on. Back to my review of Avatar. The premise was Evil white men (surprisingly not Christians) attack peaceful Blue Alien Race in order to exploit their land for greedy profit. As far as I can tell all these Blue Aliens ever do is ride their horse like creatures around and gather around a tree and dance as if they are on drugs. This is called Pantheism the worship of nature. As I watched this movie I was not really rooting for the Humans but I sure didn't care what happened to the Aliens either. Even with all the political stuff aside it still was not a very good story. The end where the bad guy dies was just boring. If the director really wanted to make a good movie he would have made the planet a desert world. The bad guys would be Islamic Jihadists who have been kicked off of earth and sent to pandora so the rest of us can live in Peace. These shepherds may have been men who were accustomed to preparing lambs which symbolically represented the Messiah in their cleanliness, perfection, and their sacrifice on the altar of the temple. This gives added depth of meaning, if true, to these scriptures which tell of the angels who came to these shepherds to proclaim the birth of the Lamb of God, the Savior of mankind, who would offer the last and ultimate sacrifice. <br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Update: Update: <br /><br /><br /><br />But there are more interesting details. The place where the angels appeared to the shepherds is traditionally known as the “Tower of the Flock,” or Migdal Edar, which is very near Bethlehem. One commentator notes: <br /><br /><br /><br />This watch tower from ancient times was used by the shepherds for protection from their enemies and wild beasts. It was the place ewes were brought to give birth to the lambs. In this sheltered building/cave the priests would bring in the ewes which were about to lamb for protection. These special lambs came from a unique flock which were designated for sacrifice at the temple in Jerusalem. <br /><br /><br /><br />According to Edersheim in The Life And Times Of Jesus The Messiah, in Book 2, Chapter 6, states, “This Migdal Edar was not the watchtower for the ordinary flocks that pastured on the barren sheep ground beyond Bethlehem, but it lay close to the town, on the road to Jerusalem. A passage from the Mishnah (Shekelim 7:4) leads to the conclusion that the flocks which pastured there were destined for Temple sacrifices…” <br /><br /><br /><br />…What are we to make of all of this information from the writings of the rabbis? First, we know that Migdal Edar was the watchtower that guarded the Temple flocks that were being raised to serve as sacrificial animals in the Temple. These were not just any flock and herd. The shepherds who kept them were men who were specifically trained for this royal task. They were educated in what an animal, that was to be sacrificed, had to be and it was their job to make sure that none of the animals were hurt, damaged, or blemished. These lambs were apparently wrapped in “swaddling cloths” to protect them from injury and also used to wrap the Lord Jesus. <br /><br /><br /><br />Thus, with the establishment of Temple worship in Jerusalem, the fields outside of Bethlehem became the place where a special group of shepherds raised the lambs that were sacrificed in the Temple. Being themselves under special Rabbinical care, they would strictly maintain a ceremonially clean stable for a birthing place. The Tower of the Flock was used for birthing ewes, and the surround fields were where these shepherds grazed their flocks. These shepherds customarily kept their flocks outdoors twenty-four hours a day every day of the year, but brought the ewes in to deliver their lambs where they could be carefully cared for. It was to this place that Joseph took Mary. Who then were these shepherds? Without question these were shepherds who resided near Bethlehem. They were none other but the shepherds from "Migdal Edar" who were well aware that the Targum hinted and many of the rabbis taught that Messiah might well be announced from "Migdal Edar" at Bethlehem. The angels only told the shepherds that they would find the Babe wrapped in “swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” There was no need for the angels to give these shepherds directions to the birth place because they already knew. These were the men who raised sacrificial lambs that were sacrificed in the Temple. You cannot explain the meaning or direction of the sign they were given or their response unless you have the right manger and the right shepherds! <br /><br /><br /><br />Typically, "Migdal Edar", (the tower of the flock) at Bethlehem is the perfect place for Christ to be born. He was born in the very birthplace where tens of thousands of lambs, which had been sacrificed to prefigure Him. God promised it, pictured it and performed it at "Migdal Edar". It all fits together, for that’s the place the place where sacrificial lambs were born! Jesus was not born behind an inn, in a smelly stable where the donkeys of travelers and other animals were kept. We talked to the guy who runs that repair place and he got us another one at the auction. It is a 2005 Pontiac with only 34,000 miles on it. He said it is a good car it is a 4 door with cruise which Dad wanted and you will be happy to know that it is silver in color so now you can't bug us about having the same car. I hope that we can get it before long since it is the pits not having a car to drive. It is good today though James is hear with his wheels. But the test they did when he was sleeping spotlighted some problems, they think that he might have sleep apnea. In January he has to go to the sleep lab and sleep there overnight. He isn't looking forward to it but they told him that he could have a sleeping pill if he needed it. Other than that there hasn't been much change. We are still waiting to get our car back, so far I don't think much has happened. The insurance adjuster was to have looked at it yesterday but we haven't heard anything yet. Julie has been good to let us borrow her car and to take us places. Are you all ready for Christmas? If you look close at the front fender there is some blood on it. The windshield suffered the most damage. I was holding it up on my side after the wreck. There is a lot of glass in the back seat too but you can't see it so good since the uphostery is tweed. The movie was very enjoyable due to the music and its hilarious humor.<br /><br />Following the movie we were in the process of driving home when the unbelievable happened; a large elk crashed through our front window with a loud BOOM! The event spewing glass all over us and the inside of the car. The glass was mostly small, like grains of sand, and we could feel it in our mouths, eyes, and over our bodies. The elk landed on the hood of the caron Moms side and something either the windshield or the elk hit her in the upper part of her chest. The good news was that it did not come in on us. It ran off into the hills according to the Highway Patrol man who was following close behind us and saw it run away. The Elk was a bull with a big rack of horns. <br /><br />A police officer was luckily following us looking for elk as many had been seen in that vicinity. He had us get out of the car after which we attempted to get as much of the glass off of us as possible, which included attempting to clear the inside of our mouths glass, after which we got into a truck full of elk hunters where we remained until an ambulance came. Instead of putting us both in the same ambulance they put us in two separate ones.<br /><br />They treated us as if we were badly injured, which we were not, but they didn't want to take any chances. They then took us to a hospital in Mt. Pleasant. They checked us for injuries and washed off the glass as best as they could, which included cleaning out our eyes, nose and mouth. They also gave us a tetanus shot. They were concerned about me because of my age.<br /><br />Julie and Aaron came to pick us up and take us home. Even though we had been washed off we were still covered with glass. I could still feel small grains of glass in my eyes, nose, and mouth. <br /><br />After we had been at home for a considerable time we noticed tiny pieces of glass on the kitchen table, and on various parts of the house where we had been setting. In the morning I washed off the table with a wet cloth due to the hundreds of very tiny pieces of glass I observed.<br /><br />Before going to bed we both had a shower for obvious reasons. As it was a little difficult for us to fall asleep we watched tv for a while. <br /><br />We are fortunate that we were not hurt more than we were. I should add that my glasses are marked up so badly by the glass that I had to order a new pair this morning. <br /><br />Don't you think that was a very memorable anniversary? It was one we will never forget. The good part is that we are well. The Lord must have been watching over us. Creating memories are fine, but they are not always enjoyable. We survived and that is the important part. We will post a picture of the car when it gets back in town. For now it is in a wrecking yard in Chester. On Monday our Primary children were meeting at the church for an activity in which they were going to fill up toy bags, which we had sewn for humanitarian) with toys, some that they contributed from home and other that we had already accumulated. The Bishop had told us that we could store our humanitarian things in a small room that is above the stage, the only problem was that as yet we didn't have a key to the room. I contacted the stake person in charge of keys and he told me that he would get me a key by Sunday. When Monday came I still didn't have a key so I called around and finally located on that belonged to the Stake Executive Secretary. I finally got the key from his house and we were in business. I went up to the church and helped the Primary leaders to set up things and helped with the activity. When it was time to go home I looked in my pocket and I could find all my keys but the one I had borrowed. I looked all around the church and still couldn't find it. I finally called the Executive Secretary and then I felt even worse. We agreed to meet at the church and look for the key, we thought we might have to go through the more than 200 bags that the primary kids have filled up. I got Julie's kids to go with us to help. When I got to the church we looked first in the closets in the R. S. room and as I bent over to look into the closet I saw something silver sticking out from under a plastic container in the bottom of the closet. I looked closer and there was the lost key. When I found it both Dale and the lady who is stake humanitarian director said that they had prayed before coming to the church that it would be found. I am sorry to say that I hadn't prayed about it. But, there prayers must have been strong since I found the key almost as soon as I got to the church. It was a single key on a ring so it was small and hard to find. I think that it is a good idea and should be the means of helping out those around us. That doesn't let you off the hook for great presents for your Mom and Dad though. Soon and her family, Julie and her family and James was here to celebrate with us. Aaron cooked the turkey and it was good!!! We all ate too much. Jason and Whitney entertained us with a guitar and Piano concert. After wards we went up the the Activity Center and had fun talking, eating dessert and playing games. All in all it was a great day except that we missed seeing the rest of you. If only people in this family would listen to me!!! Here is the situation. Marci's sister moved out of this house about a month ago. They left their Parakeet downstairs in the bathroom. Now I don't go down there that much but I fed it once in a while. I told Marci a couple of days ago. "O.K this is it. Tell them to get their stupid Parakeet out of our house because it is going to die!!" It just sits in that bathroom day after day in its cage. One day I laid down the law. I said "Today is the day that they come pick up their bird!! I will not let the sun go down before that bird is gone and someone takes care of it" I am parphrasing. Anyway since I have no authority in this house nothing was done. Everytime I would go into the bathroom I would kind of subconsiously check whether the bird was dead or not. Today I was down there and did my subconsious checking while putting Leroy's poop in the toilet and sure enough DEAD AS A DOORNAIL!!!!!!!! WHY DO PEOPLE NOT LISTEN TO MY WISDOM? Well Marci calls her sister and THEN we hear. "YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO MIX GRAVEL WITH IT'S FOOD SO IT CAN DIGEST!!" Well that is good to hear once the bird is finally dead. I am glad it doesn't have to sit in it's cage anymore and is probably in heaven giving us a bad report. Well I know when I get to the judgment seat my conscience is clear.
